Kyosho 08617BK 1/12 Lamborghini Countach LP500R Black

The first generation Lamborghini Countach Speciale (special model) was the epitome of the Supercar genre. Amongst other Supercars, the red Walter Wolf No.1 Countach was imported into Japan in 1977 by Seaside Motor, the same time it appeared at Supercar shows and took the world by storm, proving especially popular with young people. Referred to as the ‘Black Countach’ at the time, the exterior featured a white wave line running front to rear down the black body. With the V-shaped design adopted from the LP400 onwards, the LP500R was equipped with front spoiler, rear flared fenders, flat rear wing with end plates, and 15-inch BBS mesh wheels/Pirelli P7 tires (at the time of import). The main point was the LP500R was different to the base LP400, and the interior was coordinated in white. Although named ‘500’, the engine was actually the same 4ℓ V12 DOHC as the LP400. From chassis number 1120144 on, background as to when, where and why the 1975 model was produced remains the subject of speculation. Referred to as the Countach GT and SS, fans still discuss the mystery around this signature Supercar.

During the supercar boom of the late 1970’s, the LP500S Walter Wolf, commonly known as the Wolf Countach, became a Lamborghini icon as the Countach that was even faster than a Countach. Fanatics of the time may remember this machine appearing in the 1979 Japanese movie starring the late Yusaku Matsuda, “The Resurrection of Golden Wolf”. Canadian oil tycoon and Formula 1 team owner Walter Wolf ordered several Countach models with unique specifications including front and rear fender flares, front lip, rear wing, 335-size Pirelli P7 tires with magnesium Bravo wheels, and the 5ℓ V12 engine. These custom features came to characterize the Countach but didn’t exist in 1974 until they were introduced with the Walter Wolf models then to become familiar from the 5000S onwards. Differences to the LP400 which was still in production at the time was not limited to the appearance and engine but also extended to larger brakes, Koni suspension system and 340km/h speedometer. The one and only LP500S Walter Wolf changed the history of Lamborghini and earned its credentials as a world heritage supercar.
