Hornby R60203 OO BR YMO Salmon Bogie Wagon Era 6

35.00 $

The LMS, beImage courtesy of Paul Bartletting the largest of the Big Four railway companies, was behind a great number of freight wagons, including some of the first large bogie flat wagons. British Rail, when they took charge of the UK national rail network chose an aquatic theme for their freight wagons, and as such the LMS bogie flat design would come to be called the Salmon.Salmon wagons were designed to carry lengths of rail and later, track panels.

The 65 foot length of the wagon enabled them to easily carry standard 60 foot lengths of track and consists of up to ten of these wagons would be connected to enable the transportation of even longer lengths.Batches of these wagons, totalling 894 examples, would be constructed between 1949 and 1961 with a further batch built in 1983.

Almost all of these batches would see a rebuild at various points in time with items such as the bogies and bolster positions changing and the addition of rail cranes and end bolsters on some variants. Each different variant would receive a different TOPS code.

YMO Salmons were the first to be classified by BR. YMOs were unfitted as per the earlier LMS counterparts Many YMOs would see their bolsters removed entirely to enable the transportation of pre-built track panels.
The Hornby Salmon range is a new tooling for 2023 with almost all variants of the wagon catered for. Fitted with diecast chassis, these wagons have fantastic weight that rolls freely on metal wheels. Bolsters are included in the accessory bag can be fitted to represent the different ways these wagons would have appeared.

Specification

Item Length - Without Packaging (cm): 28

Item Height - Without Packaging (cm): 1.7

Item Width - Without Packaging (cm): 3.5

Item Weight - Without Packaging: 0.08

Item Scale: 1:76 Scale 00 Gauge

Finish: Painted

Colour: Black

Gauge: OO

Operator: BR

Designer: BR

Livery: BR Grey

Minimum Curve (mm): Radius 2

Number of Parts: 1

Buffer Type: Sprung Metal Buffers

Coupling Type: NEM Tension Lock

Hornby R40224 OO LNER Coronation Double Open First Articulated Coach Pack

112.00 $

Named to mark the coronation of King George VI, 'The Coronation' was for a time the LNER's flagship express passenger service. The train ran between London and Edinburgh in as little time as 6 hours. The service was formed by a rake of four pairs of specially designed streamlined coaches, with the addition of a streamlined observation car other than in the winter when the short period of daylight precluded the views. One service was run in each direction each day, the down service departing London for Edinburgh at 16:00pm, and the up service leaving Edinburgh at 16:30pm. Services were usually pulled by an A4 Class locomotive, commonly liveried to match the rest of the train.

The coaches were based upon the successful Silver Jubilee design and featured extensive attempts to reduce drag and increase comfort including the use of articulated pairs of coaches sharing bogies which limited the gap between the coaches, and aerodynamic underframe skirting.

In total, 4 sets of coaches were built plus the two observation cars. 2 sets were used for 'Coronation' (and 'Talisman'; the return service) 1 set for the West Riding Limited service to Leeds, and 1 spare set which could be used for any of the preceding services. After the war, the services were not resumed, and the sets were split up.

After a fire in 1951, additional doors were added to the twin sets to reduce the time needed to disembark in emergencies. All coaches lost their underframe skirting to aid maintenance and reduce unnecessary weight.

Formation (observation car and locomotive both turned and arranged depending upon direction of travel)

Brake Third (A) + Kitchen Third (Twin) (B)

Open First (C) + Open First (Twin) (D)

Open Third (E) + Kitchen Third (Twin) (F)

Open Third (G) + Brake Third (Twin) (H)

Specifications

Item Length - Without Packaging (cm): 29.1

Item Height - Without Packaging (cm): 5

Item Width - Without Packaging (cm): 3.5

Item Weight - Without Packaging: 0.19

Item Scale: 1:76 Scale 00 Gauge

Finish: Painted

Colour: Blue

Operator: LNER

Designer: LNER

Livery: Marlborough Blue/Garter Blue

Minimum Curve (mm): Radius 2

Number of Parts: 1

Hornby TT4003 TT Pullman 1st Class Kitchen Octavia with Lights Era 3

37.00 $

The Pullman Car Company took rail travel to the next level of opulence at a time when rail travel was already a premium experience. The Pullman services as operated by the PCC lasted almost a century with the first service operating in 1874 and the last in 1972. Pullman services, with very few exceptions, were made up of the PCCs own rolling stock. This stock consisted of unique to the UK, almost American style coaches, made of wood and painted in the umber and cream livery. Every coach was named, even the third class coaches although in this case the name would invariably be its car number. This name would adorn the side of each coach in a painted panel akin to how a locomotive name plate appears.

Pullman services operated on each of the Big Four’s rails and on the later nationalised rail network. The operator most opposed to the notion of the service was the GWR, who saw their own coaches as being more than luxurious enough, and therefore there being little point in operating Pullman trains although they themselves would eventually commission some services. Many Pullman coaches have been preserved around the country and indeed the world, with several finding their way over to the United States.

Specifications

Item Length - Without Packaging (cm): 16.7

Item Height - Without Packaging (cm): 3.5

Item Width - Without Packaging (cm): 2.4

Item Weight - Without Packaging: 0.04

Item Scale: 1:120 Scale

Finish: Painted

Colour: Brown

Gauge: TT

Operator: Pullman

Designer: Pullman Car Company

Livery: Pullman Umber and Cream

Minimum Curve (mm): Radius 1

Number of Parts: 1

SDS Models PL012 HO VR BPL Coach VR 10BPL Smooth Side

52.00 $

The original Austrains PL series of carriages have been upgraded. The Austrains NEO series are based around the same 59'9" design as the original models.

We've retooled the sides to reflect another style of doorway synonymous to this type of carriage, the sliding door. At the same time we took the opportunity to remove the faux raised screw heads of the original model along the raised beading and letter board area of the car body.

We have also improved the dimensionally accuracy of the roof mounted torpedo ventilators, made some small changes to the appearance of the bogies and improved the interior seat representation.

Lastly, we have introduced an additional width underframe, with centered handbrake wheel position. This provides us with a opportunity to model specific car numbers that match the prototype and offer all new car numbers. Three distinct eras of operation are offered, all with specific annotations on the car sides.

The APL and BCPL cars use the original 8'0" wide style underframe and the BPL cars ride on a new 7'6" style of underframe with centered handbrake wheel.
