Pole position for the 1974 Bathurst 1000 was claimed by Peter Brock, driving a Holden LH Torana SL/R 5000 L34 for the Holden Dealer Team. Brock’s qualifying lap was an impressive 2 minutes 30.8 seconds, securing him the top spot on the grid for the great endurance race.

It was Brock’s first of six pole positions at Bathurst, where he would go on to build a legendary career. The pole could have likely turned into a race win for Brock and co-driver Brian Sampson; however, engine dramas scuttled the No. 1 Torana while leading the race by six laps, resulting in an unfortunate DNF.

Authentic Collectibles ACP049V Dick Johnson Racing Greens Tuf Variant Limited Edition Print

$

Authentic Collectables are very excited to present this amazing limited edition illustrated print featuring the iconic Greens'-Tuf Ford Falcon XE driven by Dick Johnson in the 1983 James Hardie 1000 Hardie's Heroes top ten shootout.

A hall of fame driver with 3 Bathurst 1000 wins and 5 Australian Touring Car Championship titles next to his name, there is no question of Dick Johnson's calibre as a race car driver. But it's perhaps that winning pedigree combined with his likeable character and some of the crashes he sustained during his career (particularly at Bathurst) and the way he bounced back from those moments that have made him a legendary Australian folk hero.

One of those moments came at Bathurst in 1983. A previous Bathurst winner and reigning touring car champion, Johnson along with co-driver Kevin Bartlett rolled into Bathurst that year with an amazing looking car in Greens'-Tuf that was seriously fast. Johnson's qualifying times were strong to have the car in 2nd place on the grid provisionally despite using older tyres. They were easily one of the favourites to win the Great Race.

Then came that fateful lap in the Hardie's Heroes to determine the first 10 starting positions of the race.

Johnson started his lap and was looking a real possibility to be starting the race on pole but never got to finish. A slide in the rear at the exit of Forrest's Elbow saw the big Falcon clip the wall and drag the right front wheel into a concrete filled tyre stack, breaking the steering and sending Greens'-Tuf flying into the trees.

The car was totaled, thankfully Johnson wasn't and exited the wreck un-injured.

Ultimately Johnson and the team managed to source a replacement XE and took to re-fitting it with the race engine from the wrecked Hardie's Heroes Falcon along with other bits and pieces and re-painting it in the Greens'-Tuf colour scheme overnight. It didn't look as finely polished as the Hardie's Heroes version but the 'morning after car' was a massive achievement in team work and the car was rolled out to the grid on race morning - with the paint still drying - to start from 10th on the grid. Unfortunately a fairytale win wasn't to be, the hastily built car had multiple issues during the race and ultimately didn't finish, completing 61 laps of the race.

This illustrated print features the Hardie's Heroes Greens'-Tuf XE prior to its trip through the trees in a quality and style never before seen and celebrates one of the most iconic cars in Bathurst 1000 and Dick Johnson Racing history.

Featuring the artwork of Australian designer / illustrator Tristan Groves, this impressive vector illustrated print measures 594mm X 841mm and will be printed on 250gsm matte paper using offset print technology in an exclusive limited edition, with each copy individually numbered and signed by the artist.

This is the variant edition of this print with a light background version also available.

Authentic Collectables ACP043 A Monster Lap Of Bathurst: Cameron Waters 2020 Bathurst 1000 Pole Position Limited Edition Illustrated Print
25.00
$

The Monster Mustang was fast all weekend at the 2020 Bathurst 1000. Sharing driving duties with Will Davison, both driver’s practice times were strong across the weekend and Waters ultimately recorded the 4th fastest time in qualifying to book a place in the coveted Top 10 Shootout.

Come shootout time, Waters put in an absolute monster lap – pun intended – to rag doll his Mustang around the mountain to record a blistering time of 2:03.5592s and set himself up as the man, and machine, to beat with 3 exceptional drivers left to record their laps. Those 3 drivers were Scott McLaughlin, Shane van Gisbergen and Lee Holdsworth and none could better the time set by Waters.

As Bathurst history shows however, starting from Pole for The Great Race doesn’t necessarily guarantee a win on race day. Both Waters and Davison put in faultless driving performances across the 161 lap epic but just fell short, finishing in 2nd place on the day.

Featuring the artwork of Australian designer / illustrator Tristan Groves, this impressive vector illustrated print measures 594mm X 841mm and has been printed on 250gsm matte paper using offset print technology in an exclusive numbered limited edition of 320 with each copy numbered and signed by the artist.

Authentic Collectables ACCM1994BWA 1994 Bathurst 1000 Winner - 30th Anniversary Collector Medallion

The 1994 Bathurst 1000 was won by Dick Johnson and John Bowe, driving a Ford EB Falcon. The race, held on 2 October at the famous Mount Panorama Circuit in New South Wales, saw Johnson claim the third and final Bathurst 1000 win of his career and the second victory for the driver pairing, with their previous win coming in 1989.

An incident during Johnson’s shootout lap saw the duo start from tenth on the grid for the race, but the Dick Johnson Racing Shell-FAI Falcon had pace, clocking the third-fastest time during the qualifying session prior. That pace was proven come race time, with Johnson and Bowe turning in a 1000 km masterclass, leading 99 of the 161 laps to cross the finish line first, with Bowe famously holding off a fast-finishing rookie called Craig Lowndes—who would eventually win the race seven times himself!

The stunning yellow and blue Ford EB Falcon, with its red wheels and racing stripes, remains a fan favourite and one of the truly iconic winning cars of The Great Race.

This two sided gold plated metal and enamel medallion features an image of the winning Ford EB Falcon presented with year, car and driver details and three legendary words included in the design on the rear of the medallion that every Ford fan loves to see - Ford Wins Bathurst.

The medallion measures a large 100mm in diameter and 4mm thick and comes presented in an even bigger clear acrylic display stand which not only protects the medallion from dust and scratches, but also acts as the perfect way to display this collectors item.
The 1994 Bathurst 1000 pole position was claimed by Glenn Seton, driving a Ford EB Falcon for Glenn Seton Racing. Seton’s qualifying lap time of 2 minutes 12.1464 seconds around Mount Panorama secured him the top spot on the grid for the prestigious endurance race.

It was Seton’s first Bathurst 1000 pole position, and it also marked the first time a Ford V8 started from pole since Allan Moffat's XB Falcon GT in 1976. Despite Seton’s impressive qualifying performance, mechanical issues later in the race prevented him from claiming victory. Nevertheless, claiming pole at Bathurst is an incredible feat and worthy of celebration and the Peter Jackson backed Falcon was an incredible car.
