Airfix A02342 1/72 Tiger 1

10.00 $

When the mighty German Tiger 1 entered service during the Autumn of 1942, it was the most advanced tank in the world and one designed specifically to dominate the battlefield. Capable of destroying anything the Allies had in service, the Tiger possessed a stand-off advantage where it could kill without being killed, picking off enemy tanks before they could even think about returning fire. Unfortunately for the Wehrmacht, the awesome potential of the Tiger was never fully realised, as it was over engineered, extremely complex and expensive to produce, ensuring that there were never enough Tigers on the battlefield at any one time.

Between 1942 and 1944, only 1,347 Tiger 1s were manufactured and, whilst it was undoubtedly one of the finest tanks ever produced, it could not hold back the ever increasing numbers of Allied armour. Highlighting this numerical disparity, American factories were able to produce over 49,000 Sherman Tanks during WWII.

As one of the most advanced and destructive tanks ever created, now's your chance to bring home a much-loved piece of WWII history for your Airfix range. With 2 choices of livery schemes, You can relive the victories of the technically advanced, destructive Tiger 1!

Specifications

Item Length - Without Packaging (cm): 9.5

Item Height - Without Packaging (cm): 3

Item Width - Without Packaging (cm): 5.5

How many pieces will be found in the box opened by the customer?: 84

Item Scale: 1:72

Contents (what's in the box) sets: Sprues & decals

Finish: Plastic

Number of Scheme options: 2

Skill Level: 1

Flying Hours: 1

Roden 734 1/72 British Armoured Car Pattern 1920 Mk.II Modified with Sand Tyres

8.00 $

In the African deserts and also in the territory of India, the Rolls-Royce Armored Car became very useful as a 'police car' for subduing revolts. At the beginning of the 1920s the vehicle underwent a substantial modernization. In this manifestation the car was given its full name: Rolls-Royce Armored Car 1920 Pattern Mk.I. Some of these cars were kept in the homeland, others were passed on to the government of neighboring Ireland where they notably proved themselves in action during the civil war, but the majority of the cars were sent to the turbulent Near East. At the end of the 1930s about 150 cars were on the roster of various military units, more than 70 of them in North Africa and the Far East. These were fitted with new, wider wheels and new disks for better traction in sandy areas, the front of the armored body was redesigned, improving the driver's field of view, and extra new small lights were set on the front wheel wings. The shape of the rotating turret was changed: it was opened up and less rounded longitudinally. It was fitted with a Boys rifle and Vickers guns. With the onset of conflict, and frequent air attack, another gun was added for conducting anti-aircraft fire.

Rubicon Models 1/56 SU-85/SU122

21.00 $

The SU-85 (Samokhodnaya Ustanovka 85) was a Soviet casemate-style self-propelled gun used during World War II, based on the chassis of the T-34 medium tank. Earlier Soviet self-propelled guns were meant to serve as either assault guns, such as the SU-122, or as tank destroyers; the SU-85 fell into the latter category. The designation “85” signifies the bore of the vehicle’s armament, the 85mm D-5S gun.

Based on the SU-122 chassis, SU-85 entered production in mid-1943, with the first vehicles reaching their units by August. When the up-gunned T-34/85 medium tank entered mass production in the spring of 1944, there was no point in continuing production of a tank destroyer without superior firepower, so SU-85 production was stopped in late 1944 after 2,050 vehicles had been produced. It was replaced on the production lines by the SU-100 tank destroyer, armed with the more powerful 100mm D-10S gun.

Featurest:

Options to build either a SU-122 or SU-85

Open hatches & elevating gun

Optional fuel cans
