<p>The 4th generation Skyline (C110) nicknamed Kenmeri after a series of TV commercials featuring a western looking couple “Ken &amp; Mary”, was the first model developed after the merger of Nissan Motor Co with Prince Motor Co. This model was a ‘make or break’ development for the newly formed Nissan. With exhaust regulations expected to tighten in the future, car development was focussed on compliance rather than performance. In the face of strong headwinds for sports cars, the Kenmeri GT-R (KPGC110 model) was released in January 1973, four months after the standard model. Featuring a 130mm longer and 30mm wider body than the previous 2-door HT (KPGC10), the Kenmeri included many unique components such as formidable blacked out grill, front &amp; rear overfenders plus a vertical spoiler on the trunk lid reminiscent of a racing GT-R. While the engine was the same S20 as the 3rd generation with the same specs and suspension, components that affected handling were completely revised to deliver more dynamic performance. In the early stages of development, the Kenmeri was considered for racing as the successor to the Hakosuka, however this did not eventuate and as the S20 engine could not meet the new exhaust regulations, the Kenmeri GT-R ceased production after only four months. In many ways, the Kenmeri was a victim of the times, which is why it is called the forgotten GT-R.</p>

<p>The GT started life as a Limited Edition, but demand was so strong that more GTs were built. The last XR was assembled in February of 1968. The GTs future as a model in its own right was assured. The launch of the XT GT in March 1968 kept the Aussie muscle car alive. The XT GT was made even more potent and attractive and was now available in a range of colours, a step up from the XR that was only offered in GT Gold. New colours for the XT included, Springtime Yellow, GT Silver, Polar White, GT Gold, Candy Apple Red and Zircon Green Metallic. Only one sample of the XT GT was produced in Starlight Blue. The XT interior was also only availiable in one colour, Black.<br>The Falcon XT was to be Ford’s answer to Holden’s two door coupe, the Monaro and the two would fight it out on the Bathurst race track for superiority. This was the real beginning of the Ford - Holden rivalry that still persists amongst the manufacturers to this day.</p> <h3>Features</h3> <ul> <li>The comprehensive front end features the engraved headlights and driving lights, as well as the finely finished front grille and bumper.</li> <li>The JJ type pressed steel ventilated wheel rims wore 185 x 14 radial ply tyres.</li> <li>The interior features authentic XT GT dash detail, steering wheel, full instrumentation and soft rubber seats with seat belts and buckles.</li> <li>The rear seat has a working central fold-down arm rest.</li> <li>The engine bay has an outstanding level of detail including an etched metal air filter, finely moulded hoses, leads and tubing.</li> <li>The boot mat is skillfully moulded soft rubber and has been made removable.</li> <li>Superb chassis detail with working suspension, swaybar and steering.
