Classic Carlectables 18665 1/18 Ford XA Falcon RP083 Coupe Polar White

108.00 $

Early in 1972 Ford released the XA GT Falcon in sedan and hardtop versions. It was the first Falcon to be totally designed by Australians, as production of the Falcon in the US had ceased some 18 months earlier. The XA was the biggest Falcon yet, with the boldest styling, designed for wider appeal with its less aggressive look and creature comforts.

Ford built 891 hardtops between July 1972 and September 1973, including the construction of 129 RPO83 coupes. The GT Specials - that’s their official title - were Regular Production Option 83 on Ford’s options list for Falcon GTs.
The biggest change on the RPO83 to the normal GT was the fitting of a huge 780cfm (cubic feet per minute) four barrel Holley carburettor and (hidden away under the V-banks) fabricated exhaust extractors. These added 30-40bhp to the existing 300bhp for much improved performance. Other changes included a modified sump with additional baffles and a manual choke. They used most of the bolt-on engine components intended for the Phase IV GT-HO - the “Supercar” killed by political and public pressure before it went into production in 1972. The new model could run the quarter in the high 14s and had a top speed of around 140mph (225kph).

Item includes certificate with individual production number.

Kyosho 1/18 08047EW Shelby Cobra 427S/C Essex Wire White/Dark Blue Nr.91

137.00 $

The refined AC Cobra’s attractive open body in the 1960’s British sports car style was powered by a large-displacement American V8 engine. Unbound by electronic control, the AC Cobra produced breathtaking power for a dynamic driving experience not found in modern cars. More than 10 companies still reproduce replicas of this motoring masterpiece, but the original was manufactured from 1962 to 1967 (through 1969 in Europe and USA). The most formidable model was the AC Shelby Cobra 427 which featured a 7ℓ OHV with standard spec 425ps and competition spec 485ps engine, plus a reinforced body to handle the extra power. Double-wishbone undercarriage with front & rear over fenders extended the width by 175mm, adding to the Cobra’s already aggressive stance. Unable to receive homologation by the deadline, the Shelby works team was unable to enter racing competition however, its dynamic 12-second Quarter Mile runs were first class and the swinging tail ‘snake dash’ captivated speed junkies everywhere. The 427 S/C is a competition model that has been detuned and equipped with a front window shield for public roads making it a popular collector’s model all over the world, not just for its speed and power, but also its rarity.

Classic Carlectables 18638 1/18 Ford Mustang GT 1986 Bathurst

116.00 $

In 1984 Dick Johnson envisioned the Ford Mustang GT as a car that could be competitive under the new Group A racing rules, scheduled for 1985. He tracked down two cars in Germany and took them back to his Queensland workshop for rebuilding and race preparation.

The 1986 Bathurst practice sessions were wet and caused a few dramas for the drivers, but as the track dried, Alan Grice put down a fantastic time to be almost 2s faster than anyone else. In a contested Hardies Heros Top Ten Shootout, the Skyline driven by Gary Scott secured Pole from Grice, with Johnson a further 2.6s behind in 6th position.

After a clean start to the race Johnson settled into 7th position. A great pitstop and driver change on lap 43 gained the Mustang a position. With several of the front runners suffering from mechanical issues, the Johnson/Hansford pairing found themselves in 4th place after 107 laps, where they stayed for the remainder of the race albeit one lap down on the winning Holden VK Commodore of Grice and Bailey.

Features

The model is accurately detailed, the cowl panel features a finely molded vent, twin antennas, bonnet scoop and kill switch.

Behind the Mustang wheel rims are slotted disc brakes on all four wheels.

The left hand drive Mustang has the interior stripped out with full roll cage. The chassis pressing, switch box and pedals are well presented.

The drivers racing seat features soft padding and racing harness with individual buckles.

The 5.0L V8 breathes from twin snorkels attached to the side walls of the engine bay. Opening the bonnet is aided by a bonnet release button on the chassis.

From below the detail continues with metal springs used on the suspension. The steering wheel is linked to the front wheels for extra realism.

The highly detailed rear chassis features air jacks, fuel tank, suspension setup and differential.

The chassis bears an individually numbered etched metal plate which is the edition number of your model.

Classic Carlectables 18677 1/18 Ford XA Falcon Phase IV GT-HO

108.00 $

In 1972 the new XA GT was released and a GT-HO model was required to supersede the XY GT-HO on the race track. Three XAs were sent to Howard Marsden and his team at Ford Special Vehicles, Fords’s internal race division.

Racing rules at the time dictated that 200 standard Phase IVs had to be produced into road going versions. The media published a story of the supposed ‘160 mph supercars on our roads’, this started a mass hysteria that eventually led to the government stepping in and demanding that all production cease of these road going race cars.

Ford was in the later stage of building the Phase IV prototype racecars, but only one of them was completed, the Moffat racecar ‘XA-1’. The Ford Special Vechicle factory never finished the remaining ‘XA-2’ and ‘XA-3’ phase IV Falcons, but they did continue to have a life with new owners.
Our model is based on XA-3, originally delivered to Max McLeod, the car remained unused and stripped of parts. XA-3 was eventually restored sourcing as many original parts as possible.

Item includes certificate with individual production number.
