<p>In 1951, the Land Cruiser was developed and trained in the harshest environments around the world. The U.S. military and National Police Reserve (now the Ground Self-Defense Force) required a locally produced vehicle with similar specifications to the Willys-Overland Jeep. Toyota installed a B-type in-line 6-cylinder 3.4ℓ engine (85ps, 4-speed MT) for trucks on its J-type chassis, which was an improved version of the SB-type engine for small trucks. Toyota created the Jeep BJ prototype by combining this engine-chassis combination with a four-wheel drive system to compete against the Nissan and Mitsubishi machines. Mitsubishi was eventually chosen and delivered its jeep to the US military and the National Police Reserve. The losing Toyota model was later adopted as a patrol car by the National Police (now the Metropolitan Police Department). With dimensions of 3,800mm in length and 1,575mm in width, it was a very compact car and from 1953 it became commercially available as well as contract-manufactured for wireless communication vehicles as well as other special purposes including the fire department which upgraded to the more powerful F-type engine (95ps). In 1954 the name ‘Jeep’ was determined to infringe of Willys-Overland trademark rights and the name was changed to Land Cruiser, and the legend has grown ever since.</p>

<p>We’re proud to officially announce that we’ve teamed up with Brad Jones Racing to become their official model car partner for the 2024 Repco Supercars Championship Season and beyond.</p> <p>A team which made it’s V8 Supercars debut in the year 2000, the Albury based squad has a long and illustrious racing history across numerous categories and we’re excited to be replicating the squad’s four Supercars for fans of the team and their drivers.</p> <p>The Jones family name is a familiar one in Australian Motorsport and Macauley Jones is no doubt keen to forge his own legacy as he enters his 5th full-time season in Supercars in 2024. An impressive individual and talented racer, ‘Macca’ enjoyed a fruitful junior racing career as he rose through the ranks to the Supercars Championship, all the while completing his apprenticeship as a qualified mechanic.</p> <p>The #96 Pizza Hut Chevrolet Camaro, which features a strong red and white livery and race number on the roof (we love race numbers on roofs and doors here), is a really neat looking race car and will look fantastic in collections with this model set to be replicated based on the season-opening Thrifty Bathurst 500 round.</p> <p>This 1:43 scale model is scheduled to be produced in high quality sealed body die-cast with clear windows, detailed racing cockpit and undercarriage details unique to the Gen3 floorpan.</p> <p>Comprised of roughly 65 individual metal and plastic parts plus anywhere between 50-100 steps in paint and decoration finishing, this is a high quality collectors model for fans of this scale.</p> <p>It is scheduled to be produced in an exclusive one-off limited edition, presented in a display case with the model attached to a white base plate which features the car details printed on it. <p>A new era began in 2023 when Gen3 Supercars were introduced to race in the Supercars Championship.<br><br>A significant evolution from the previous Gen2 platform, the Gen3 rules implemented a raft of changes for the Ford Mustang GT Supercar in 2023, with a large focus on achieving a much closer visual connection to its road going counterpart, more controlled parts and less downforce to encourage greater racing.<br><br>After two seasons with CoolDrive Racing, Tim Slade joined PremiAir Racing for 2023 to race the menacing looking black Nulon backed Camaro. As fate would have it, race 1 at the season opening Newcastle 500 round would be Slade's 400th career championship race start in Supercars.
