<p>A Panzerwaffe 1946 tank! What if Germany’s plans for a new series of tanks late in WWII had materialized?  The super heavy end of the Entwicklung E-series may have been represented by the E-100 tank chassis with Maus type turret and two optional artillery guns, 15cm/L46 or 17cm PaK46. All work on the hypothetical E-tanks was abandoned before the end of WWII.</p>

<h3>HISTORY</h3> <p>T-44 was created in 1943-1944. Though the T-44 did not see combat in World War II, it was issued to tank brigades for training purposes. It was never shown publicly during military parades and pictures were never shown publicly until the secrecy was dropped. T-44 was being developed in order to create a tank that would have better combat and technical characteristics than the T-34.</p> <br> <h3>SPECIFIC FEATURES</h3> <p>The original intention was to retain the high mobility and speed of a T-34 and to provide the T-44 with heavier armour protection against large-caliber tank guns. This was accomplished by adding thicker armour but reducing the internal volume of the hull. Although the T-44 used many components of the T-34, it had a new hull, and a modified model diesel engine, suspension and transmission.</p> <br> <h3>THE MAIN DIFFERENCES FROM THE T-34-85</h3> <p>T-44’s hull had a simplified construction without fenders. The hull of the T-34-85 had T-shape cross-section while T-44’s hull had a rectangular shape. The height of the t-44’s hull was reduced to 300 mm.</p> <br> <p>The new V-44 12-cylinder 4-stroke diesel engine, developing 500 hp, was a more powerful version of the T-34's model V-2 with a new planetary manual 5-speed transmission system, filtration system, improved cooling system, horizontally placed water and oil pumps and an improved fuel system which increased its power output. It was the first tank design to feature transverse engine placement, which made it smaller than a standard T-34 and gave the crew more space. The hull upper front armour (glacis plate 60°) thickness was doubled to 90 mm. Even though it was more heavily armoured, the weight of the T-44 was the same.</p> <br> <p>The tank's crew did not include a radio operator/machine gunner. This space was used for ammunition stowage area, transferred from the floor of the fighting compartment. As a result were improved working conditions.</p> <br> <p>The bow machine gun and driver's hatch switched positions on the glacis plate. One of the machine guns was mounted to fire through a tiny hole in the center of the glacis plate. <p>Since its introduction in 1979, the Leopard 2 main battle tank, often referred to as the best in the world, has been repeatedly modernized and adapted. The latest Leopard 2A6M version has the longer gun (L55) and improved anti-mine protection. In addition to Germany, another 15 nations use the Leopard 2, including Canada in Afghanistan. The model offers the choice between the A6 and A6M (additional mine protection plate). The surface structures contain all the details, including the filigree anti-slip coating. As a special feature, the model has a two-part chain that is bent. <p>This model kit recreates the M551 Sheridan Armored Reconnaissance/Airborne Assault Vehicle (AR/AAV). The M551 was designed as airdrop capable armor with wading capabilities, a key concept as the U.S. took on the role of global policeman post WWII. With an aluminum hull and rolled steel turret, it weighed just 15 tons, but had impressive firepower in the shape of the M81 152mm gun/launcher, which could fire standard rounds and MGM-51 Shillelagh missiles. The M551 was in service with active units from 1968 to 1996, and saw action in the jungles of Vietnam.</p> <br> <h3>Features</h3> <ui> <li>1/35 scale plastic model assembly kit. <p>The infantry still plays a key role in the battlefield even though tanks have greater firepower -- they are the only arm of the military actually able to occupy and secure the ground. Every advanced Army has invested money to give its infantry mobility, in order to keep up with their comrade tanks.</p> <p>The German Sd.Kfz.251 armored half-track was the ultimate design of its kind of vehicle during the second World War. The Type D was widely deployed from the later half of the war. At first glance, this kit molded in olive drab plastic does not give a sharp impression, especially to eyes accustomed to the recent lighter-colored plastic kits. But this is an illusion; the detail on this kit is superb, especially the running gear mechanism and wheels which are highly detailed even though they cannot be seen without inverting the model.</p> <p>The same level of detail can be found in the interior; visors with vision slots are made with several parts, for realism and accuracy. Even the cushion pads beneath the driver's ceiling have not been forgotton. Two types of bench seats for the squad are included -- leather or wooden. A pair of MG34 and MG42 are included as optional weapons. The tracks are the cementable rubber band type. Five sets of decals included for army and SS units. No figure included. An excellent model kit, giving us reason to anticipate future variations!</p>
