<p>A new era began in 2023 when Gen3 Supercars were introduced to race in the Supercars Championship.<br><br>A significant evolution from the previous Gen2 platform, the Gen3 rules implemented a raft of changes for the Ford Mustang GT Supercar in 2023, with a large focus on achieving a much closer visual connection to its road going counterpart, more controlled parts and less downforce to encourage greater racing.<br><br>2017 Bathurst 1000 winner David Reynolds entered the 2023 Supercars season in his third year with Grove Racing, racing the #26 Penrite backed Mustang. True to Penrite's form as a major partner who enjoys updating their race liveries, the team raced a number of different colour schemes across the season and perhaps their best example of this was their retro paint job raced at the Penrite Oil Sandown 500.<br><br>Joined by 5-time Bathurst 1000 winner Garth Tander on co-driving duties for the endurance races, the retro #26 Mustang was inspired by Allan Moffat's 1979 Ford XC Federation Falcon. The livery was designed to honour Moffat's contribution to Australian motorsport while also raising awareness of, and support for, patients and families affected by dementia - a disease Moffat publicly disclosed he was battling earlier in the year.<br><br>The retro look suited the Gen3 Mustang perfectly and looked so impressive. It will be a fine addition to collections, with part proceeds of the sale of this model to be donated to Dementia Australia once it is released.<br><br>This 1:43 scale model is scheduled to be produced in high quality sealed body die-cast with clear windows, detailed racing cockpit and undercarriage details unique to the Gen3 floorpan.<br><br>Comprised of roughly 65 individual metal and plastic parts plus anywhere between 50-100 steps in paint and decoration finishing, this is a high quality collectors model for fans of this scale.<br><br>It is scheduled to be produced in an exclusive one-off limited edition, presented in a display case with the model attached to a white base plate which features the car details printed on it. <p>With diminishing sales of the HD, Holden’s response was the HR. Although the body changes looked mild, they involved reworking the roof line and changing almost all the exterior panels to give a sleeker, more modern profile. A new grille with squared–off headlight surrounds at the front and ‘tower type’ lights at the rear only added to the looks, it proved very successful and made the HR one of the biggest–selling Holdens of all. Compared to 178,927 for the HD and 252,352 for the HR (produced until January 1968.) This lifted sales of the HR Holden to the level that Holden received from then popular EH Holden which had sold 256,959 vehicles. As well as styling changes, the Holden’s performance was improved by virtue of an enlarged version of the ‘red engine’ with higher compression ratios.</p> <p>The 179 was enlarged to become the very popular 186. Other HR changes included a slightly widened track and a wider rear windscreen. While the Special was the most common type of HR, the Premier was the top of the line and it had plusher cabin trimmings, including a wood grain finish (artificial), body trim included stainless steel around the wheel arches, along the boot between the tail lights and stone guards. There were many options for the HR, like power steering, front–wheel disc brakes, a limited–slip differential and yet more with the Nasco accessories like sill chrome mouldings, wheel trim rings, side mirror, radio, aerial, hood ornament were available.</p> <p>Six months after the launch, all HRs were given a safety upgrade with the addition of front seat belts, windscreen washers, reverse lights, sun visors and a shatterproof interior rear–vision mirror. The fitting of seat belts as standard was the forerunner of many significant safety–related features pioneered by Holden in Australia.</p> <p>To some the HR lacked get-up-and-go – the anticipation of the all new engines not producing the expected performance machines many lusted after. In 186 Premier Powerglide guise it had a top speed of around 88 miles per hour, and would do the standing quarter in 19.2sec. These figures were respectable rather than breathtaking. While the HR may not have been a street brawler, it would cruise effortlessly at 80 mph and it would do it while instilling confidence in the driver. Anyone who had driven the HD at similar speeds knew the HR was way in front, being much more sure footed. It may not have had the taut ride found on some European sedans, but it did corner with more comfort and confidence than its predecessor. Its popularity then means that today it still remains one of the most popular old Holdens for enthusiasts.</p> <p>Item includes certificate and production number plate, mounted to the chassis.</p>

<p>Ryan Wood is one of three rookies stepping up to the main game to race in the 2024 Repco Supercars Championship, replacing Nick Percat in the #2 Mobil 1 Truck Assist Ford Mustang GT at powerhouse team Walkinshaw Andretti United.</p> <p>Fast Kiwi’s are no strangers to Supercars and Wood has already been marked as a potential star of the future. His 2023 Dunlop Super2 series campaign netted him multiple race wins, podiums and pole positions.</p> <p>Wood’s white, black and orange 2024 Mustang has a look that blends style with a slight hint of aggression. This release, based on the Perth SuperSprint round where Wood started on the front row alongside teammate Chaz Mostert for Race 9 and finished just outside the podium in 4th was an impressive display for the rookie and a small glimpse of things to come. <p>James Golding returns to the PremiAir Racing outfit as part of an unchanged driver line to contest the 2024 Repco Supercars Championship.</p><p>Golding’s #31 Nulon backed Camaro looks similar to his 2023 challenger given it’s black base and the red and white colour scheme, but there are nice updates to the livery, most notably the new graphics on the bonnet and sides of the car.</p><p>With an unchanged driver line-up and race car package, the biggest change for this team will be the inclusion of gun engineer Ludo Lacroix. <p>In 2019, the Ford Mustang GT made its return to racing in the Supercars Championship and its success was immediate.<br><br>After winning on debut at the Adelaide 500, the Mustang went on to race for four full time seasons by some of the biggest teams in the sport including Shell V-Power Racing Team and Tickford Racing who enjoyed the most success with the make.<br><br>From 2019 to 2022 the Mustang took the challenge right up to rival Holden teams, and in many cases, eclipsed them, winning 54 races, 181 podiums, 82 pole positions, 2 drivers championships and taking out the biggest race of all, the Bathurst 1000 in 2019.
