ICM 48224 1/48 Gotha Go-244B-2 WWII German Transport Aircraft

50.00 $

Gotha Go 244B-2

WWII German Transport Aircraft

Difficulties encountered in the use of cargo gliders and a shortage of aircraft to tow them led to the creation of a motorised version of the Go 242, the Go 244 transport aircraft. These medium-sized transport aircraft were converted Gotha Go 242 airframes of various modifications. Aircraft engines were installed in front of the tail beams, fuel tanks were mounted inside the aircraft, and the cockpit was equipped with the necessary equipment and instruments for flight. The aircraft engines were most often powered by trophy French Gnome-Rhone 14M engines. Defensive armament consisted of MG 15 or MG 81Z 7.9 mm machine guns. The Go 244B-2 modification was based on the Go 242B-2 airframe and, like the airframe, featured an original landing gear with oil shock absorbers. The Go 244 was in service with several Luftwaffe transport squadrons based in Greece and other countries. Later, these aircraft were used in flight schools and training centres.

Scale

1:48

Markings
Gotha Go 244В-2, 106 Special Purpose Battle Groups (KGr. z.b.V. 106), Kirovohrad, 1942

Gotha Go 244B-2, probably Hagenow, Germany, 1942

Model size (length x width)

332 x 513 mm

Box size

410 x 260 x 55 mm

Number of details

266

ICM 53054 1/35 Sikorsky Ch-54A Tarhe US Heavy Helicopter

125.00 $

The CH-54 Tarhe helicopter was developed by Sikorsky Aircraft, a company founded by the prominent Ukrainian aircraft designer Igor Sikorsky. The first flight of the helicopter (originally named S-64) took place on May 9, 1962.

The helicopter was built on a modular principle, which simplified its maintenance and repair. It had a tall three-post landing gear with a front support, which allowed a tractor with a trailer approach its fuselage freely.

The helicopter’s powerful winches allowed it to pick up cargo in a hover mode, without the need to land on the ground. During the Vietnam War it evacuated damaged airplanes and various helicopters, transported artillery pieces, cars, tanks and even combat boats on an external sling.

It was also used to drop high-powered bombs to clear the forest for an airfield. This helicopter set 10 world records for its class, including lifting a 15-ton cargo to 3307 meters. The civilian version of the helicopter (Erickson S-64 Aircrane) is still in successful operation today.

Specifications

Model size (length x width): 770 mm x 180 mm

Box size: 410 x 260 x 55 mm

Number of details: 573
