The quarter-ton utility truck is a small four-wheel-drive vehicle that was developed at the request of the U.S. Army in 1940, and was put into combat in 1941. More than 640,000 units were produced during the war, making it a very important vehicle used by the U.S. military, and often cited as the weapon that led to victory in World War II.</p>

Production of the J-type started in March 1941; this kit represents the J models that saw action late during the North African campaign, seeing service with Rommel's Africa Korps and in the later battles in Tunisia. <p>The KZKT-7428 Rusich prime mover is designed to haul semi-trailers with heavy loads up to a maximum weight of 70 t, both on road and rugged terrain. It entered service with the Soviet Army in 1981 and replaced in production the previous MAZ-537. Currently the Rusich JSC (formerly Kurgan Plant of Wheeled Trucks) is the only Russian producer of heavy wheeled vehicles. The KZKT-7428 series vehicles are also commercially available and are used in oil and gas industry.</p> <p>Cab of this tank transporter provides accommodation for 5 passengers. The rear seats can be transformed to sleeping benches for two men.</p> <p>The Rusich prime mover is powered by the YaMZ-8401.10-14 turbocharged diesel engine, developing 650 hp. Engine is located behind the cab. The KZKT-7428 has considerable cross-country capability. Vehicle can operate in any climatic conditions in temperature ranges from -50 to +50°C.</p>

<p>The M983 is a tractor unit for use with the trailer-mounted MIM-104 Patriot missile system. It can also be used with the Interim Stryker Recovery System, or other trailers. An earlier variant fitted with a 30 KW generator and crane mounted behind the cab was used to tow the MGM-31 Pershing Erector Launcher in CONUS. The M983A2/A4 Light Equipment Transporter (LET) tractor is mainly used to transport construction and engineer equipment. It has a 45,000 lbs. (20,430 kg) 2 speed hydraulic winch mounted behind the cab used to load the trailer. It does not have a self-recovery winch.</p>
