Trumpeter 00306 1/35 CHN 120mm T89 Anti-Tank Gun

21.00 $

The Type 89 is a modern Chinese tank destroyer. The first prototypes of the vehicle were created in the 1980s, and serial production started in 1989 and lasted until 1995, ending with the production of about 100 vehicles of this type. The Type 89 is powered by an engine WR4B-12V150LB 520 hp. The vehicle is armed with a single 120mm tank gun and 2 machine guns: 12.7mm and 7.62mm.

The Type 89 was developed as a remedy for the Chinese military for the new Western tanks with composite armor and Soviet tanks with advanced reactive armor. Thus, when designing the Type 89, the emphasis was primarily on firepower and mobility, at the expense of armor. It is likely that the Type 89 used many components and elements from the Type 83 self-propelled gun. The Type 89 Tank Destroyer, however, did not go into really large series due to the end of the Cold War, but also numerous disadvantages: high production costs, lack of gun stabilization in motion and short range of a successful cannon shot. Some vehicles of this type were equipped with anti-tank guided missiles. There are many indications that the Type 89 cars were withdrawn from the line by 2015.

Contents

Plastic sprue, Decalsheet (waterslide), Vinyl

Specification

Dimensions: 410x260x60 mm (16.1x10.2x2.4 inch)

Markings: Type 89 PLA

Shhh! Here Comes One

During WWII, Russian soldiers used many varieties of anti-tank rifles including the Degtyaryov PTRD.
