The AH-1 Cobra helicopter (Bell 209) is an attack helicopter in the classic layout, using many components of its "big brother" UH-1 Huey. The first flight of the AH-1 prototype took place on September 7, 1965 and the helicopter entered mass production in the same year. During the Vietnam War, 1,126 machines of the G model were produced, of which 279 were lost in combat. Due to the very high reliability of the structure, small side profile and good performance, the helicopter remains in service to this day in the US Marine Corps. The AH-1 allowed the US Army to fully implement the theoretical assumption of airmobile infantry ("air cavalry") through the fire support of landing infantry units. Today, the AH-1 Cobra is primarily used against an armored celon. From 1965, several versions of this successful helicopter were created, including: AH-1G (basic version), AH-1J (two-engine version), AH-1Q (version armed with TOW missiles). Technical data: Top speed: 333 km / h; maximum range (depending on version): 507-574km, armament: fixed-1 20mm M197 three-barrel cannon, slung rockets, guided missiles, unguided missiles and cannon pods.

This kit of the USMC AH-1Z Shark Mouth is the newest upgraded variant of the AH-1 attack helicopter used by USMC. With a 20mm rotary cannon, AGM-114, and AIM-9 missiles, as well as two types of rocket pods. The cockpit of this kit is accurately detailed with panel lines and rivets that appear as they do on the real thing. This kit comes with plastic parts to build one model, photo-etched parts and masks for the canopy.

This is an injection-plastic aircraft model kit.

Airfix 04056A 1/72 Westland Sea King HC.4

Well-suited for amphibious warfare and the tactical insertion of ground troops, the 'Commando' was an important variant of the Sea King. It was initially proposed as a tactical transport for the Egyptian Air Force, for which the amphibious capability of earlier Sea Kings was not required, and so the side floats were deleted. With folding rotors and tail, the Commando entered service with the Royal Navy as the Sea King HC.4. It was eventually provided with radar-warning and infrared jamming devices, and could also deploy M130/M147 flares as counter-measures. Besides troops, it could also carry underslung loads of up to 2.5 tonnes.

Increased range and a 28-troop capacity made it ideal as an amphibious transport aircraft, and the HC.4 saw operational service in the Falklands, Balkans, Gulf, Lebanon and Afghanistan conflicts. It was often deployed to evacuate wounded personnel and refugees, as well as preparing for and supporting ground advances. It was due to be retired from UK Forces service in March 2016.

Trumpeter 05814 1/48 Mil Mi-17 Hip-H

The Mi-17 is an improved development of the Mi-8. The airframe structure, transport capabilities and equipment are essentially identical with those of the Mi-8. There are some features which make it different from the Mi-8 - engine intakes have deflectors to separate solid particles in the air (sand, dust etc.) and prevent them from ingestion. The Mi-17 can be recognized because it has the tail rotor at the starboard side, instead of the port side. The Mi-17 added a number of improvements to its predecessor, including a vibration damper to increase comfort for crew members and passengers. It is equipped with an outstanding navigation and information system and state-of-the-art communication devices, which permit safe transportation of passengers even in very adverse weather conditions by day or night. The helicopter features a high thrust-to-weight ratio pair of TVZ-117MT or TVZ-117VM shaft-turbine engines with a takeoff power of 1,900 hp. The Mi-17 is capable of single-engine flight in the event of loss of power by one engine (depending on aircraft mission weight) because of an engine load sharing system. If one engine fails, the other engine's output is automatically increased to allow continued flight.

Japanese Self-Defense Forces Japan Self-Defense Force, JSDF for short ), and more specifically their land component, that is the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF), from the 1950s and 1960s attached considerable importance to the use of helicopters. On the one hand, this was due to the topographic conditions of the Japanese islands, which are mountainous areas, where air transport is often a tactical necessity. On the other hand, helicopters were relatively quickly perceived as a very effective weapon against enemy armor. Again - the topography of the Japanese islands and their considerable forestation favored the use of helicopters in this role. These factors affect the development of the JGSDF helicopter forces to this day. It is assumed that the JGSDF currently has a wide range of rotorcraft, including: 12 Boeing AH-64 DJP machines, the Japanese version of the popular Apache, 88 AH-1S Cobra helicopters, but also over 40 Kawasaki OH-1 helicopters Ninja or nearly 60 CH-47 Chinook machines in the J and JA versions. It is worth adding that all the above-mentioned machines are licensed by Japanese plants - primarily Fuji and Kawasaki. It can be estimated that there are currently about 500 helicopters of various types at the JGSDF.
