Kyosho KSD08962A 1/18 Subaru Impreza 1994 RAC No.4
166.00
$

Subaru entered its first 4WD machine in the WRC (World Rally Championship) in 1980 but didn’t embark on its full-scale assault until 10 years later in 1990. To challenge the WRC, Subaru used its new generation Legacy and teamed up with British constructor Prodrive. After four years of hard slog, Subaru only had a single victory to show for it. However, the dream of world rally domination would be realized by its successor, the Impreza, full of racing technology loaded into a more compact body. Surprising the rally world with a 2nd place finish on its debut in 1993, the Impreza won three times in its first full season in 1994. With momentum behind it, the Impreza claimed the golden double of the manufacturer and driver titles in 1995, followed by consecutive manufacturer titles in 1996 and 1997, making the Subaru name synonymous with WRC around the world. The lineup features the RAC specification of 1994 that won the Impreza’s first race victory, and Monte Carlo specification that competed in the opening race of the 1995 season.

Features

Subaru’s renowned EJ20 horizontally opposed turbo engine was in action until Subaru withdrew from the WRC in 2014. The intercooler, which was water-cooled in the Legacy era, was changed to air-cooled in the Impreza. The exquisite horizontally opposed exhaust manifold is also a signature Impreza design feature.

Carbon materials became popular in racing from the mid-1990’s and are incorporated into the instrument panel/center console of the Impreza. The silver switch on the left side of the MOMO steering wheel became the select lever on the semi-AT as it became computerized.

Optimized for weight distribution, the ATL safety fuel tank is positioned behind the trunk barring panel. The specifications of Pirelli tires and Speedline wheels change between the gravel RAC and tarmac Monte Carlo specifications.

The beige box seen in the center of the back seat is for helmet storage has been painted to recreate the look of the actual sponge storage compartment. The body originally featured the BAT cigarette brand 555, but cigarette advertising is prohibited in the UK so this has been changed to a crescent mark.

Displays such as the switches, indicators, and the rally computer built into the dashboard are recreated with water transfer decals, some are pad (tampo) printed. Thin and highly adhesive, this achieves superior reproduction quality and eliminates the thicker, unsophisticated finish of past processes.

The roll cage, also known as a jungle gym, has a smaller diameter and is scaled down without compromising the look and feel of the actual car. The gusset welding has also been realistically reproduced

Classic Carlectables 18756 1/18 Ford XW Falcon GT-HO Phase II Track Red

$

In 1970 Ford produced a new XW range of vehicles. They had a GT and with their desire to win at Bathurst, again released a GT-HO model - the Phase II, of which approximately 400 were produced.
The Phase II XW GT-HO had a top of the line interior with a centre console, sports steering wheel and dash, radio, floor mats, door sill plates and door trims with woodgrain and chrome accents. From the outside, the Phase II looked very similar to the previous XW, except this Phase II had 14x6” wide 5 slot rims with chrome hubcaps. Mechanically, the XW Phase II was a totally different car from its predecessor. The trusty Windsor engine was replaced by the new 351 cubic inch Cleveland. The new Cleveland had the potential to produce great horsepower, the GT-HO engine was rated at 300bhp, but the true figure would have been closer to 345bhp.
Heavy duty shock absorbers and six leaf rear springs were standard. Both the front and rear stabiliser bars had their diameter increased. Heavy duty front springs, unique to the Phase II were standard. Also unique were the front spindles with revised geometry and new upper control arms that allowed wider tyres to be fitted, because of extra clearance inside.
All the new features on the Phase II made it a truly awesome machine. The highly modified GT-HO would not disappoint, with Allan Moffat winning Sandown and Bathurst at the wheel.

Features

The Shaker airscoop protruding from the bonnet is finely detailed and realistic. The bonnet pins are also well replicated.

The 5 Slot Steel wheel rims look great together with the red wall road tyres.

The model features a delicate extendable aerial, that is retractable.

The interior features an elaborate steering wheel and dash featuring full instrumentation and components.

The Cleveland engine has an outstanding level of detail including finely moulded hoses, leads, tubing and fine graphics.

The amazing engine sump, swaybar, steering and front suspension detail.

The chassis includes working leaf spring suspension and a detailed fuel tank.

Item includes certificate with individual production number.

The 1997 Bathurst 1000 was a classic, particularly given the emotion surrounding Peter Brock’s retirement and the record crowd cramming onto Mount Panorama to farewell him.
The number 34 Holden VS Commodore driven by father and son duo, Steven and Jim Richards, just missed out on the Top Ten Shootout, positioning themselves in 11th place on the starting grid for the Great Race.
By lap 50 of the race, the Richards VS Commodore had progressed to 6th position, slowly making ground on the lead group and by lap 63 had put themselves in position for a podium finish in 3rd place. They made their move on lap 128 into 2nd position and would fiercly contest for the race win from here on in, ultimately completing the 161 race laps in a time of 6:22.06.6478 behind the eventual winners, another Holden VS Commodore, driven by Larry Perkins and Russell Ingall.
Amidst the mayhem and carnage throughout the race, the Castrol VS Commodore duo maintained the kind of pace which saw many others perish under the pressure in one of the most amazing races ever seen on the Mountain.
