The Albatros D.III (Oeffag) series 253 was the last modification of the famous WWI Austro-Hungarian fighter. After successful testing of the 225 h.p. Austro-Daimler engine it was immediately installed in the late 153 series airframe. In May 1918 the Oeffag factory received an order to supply 230 aircraft of the 253 series. Because construction was unchanged apart from the new engine installation, new fighters were delivered to the combat units Flik 61 and Flik 63 in the same month. Up to October 1918, the Oeffag factory manufactured 201 fighters. Many pilots, who had flown other new aircraft, regarded the Oeffag series 253 as the best and finest fighter of all.

The North American B-25 Mitchell is an American medium bomber from the Second World War. The B-25 is a high-wing, all-metal structure with a retractable three-point landing gear and a double tail tail. The propulsion was two Wright Cyclon engines with the power from 1300KM to 1850KM, depending on the version. The flight of the prototype took place in 1940, and a year later mass production started. During the war, numerous versions of this bomber were produced, including B-25G (with a 75mm gun in the bow of the hull), B-25H (with a 75mm gun and 6 machine guns in the bow of the machine) and the B-25J (with 8 machine guns of 12.7mm in the bow of the fuselage). B-25 planes fought mainly in the Pacific and the Mediterranean basin. A number of them were handed over to Great Britain and the USSR under the lend-and-lease agreement, where they made their combat debut at Stalingrad. From 1943, the Polish 305 squadron flew on the B-25. The B-25 was famous primarily for its daring brave bomb attack on Tokyo in April 1942 (the famous Doolittle raid). Technical data: Maximum speed: 442 km / h, speed of climb: 4 m / s, maximum ceiling 7,600 m, maximum range: 4,300 km, armament: permanent - depending on the version, from 4 to 12 12.7mm Browning machine guns or combination of the 75 mm and km guns. suspended - up to 2700 kg of bombs.

The U.S. Air Force implement a realistic training program called “Red Flag” to improve both pilot air combat skills and survival rate. At Red Flag, pilots are divided into both friendly and hostile forces, with the latter called “Aggressor” which have specially selected pilots at the helm. Making up the core of these “Aggressor” forces are F-16C Block 30, 32, & 42 aircraft which are dressed up as Soviet MiG and Sukhoi aircraft with distinctive blue and brown camouflage patterns. Also, the U.S. Navy's hypothetical enemy force is called “Adversary” and use the F-16N aircraft with training held at their Navy Fighter Weapons School, famously known as “TOPGUN”. Both aircraft have their own individualistic camouflage pattern and contribute to the strategic training of each unit.

Italeri 2834S 1/48 P-38J Lightning European Theatre Operations

The Lockheed P-38 Lightning was undoubtedly one of the most original aircraft in terms of design and aerodynamic layout during World War II. It was a revolutionary heavy fighter featuring a twin-boom fuselage design, with the two engines housed in the booms and the pilot seated in a forward cockpit positioned at the center of the aircraft. Powered by two liquid-cooled Allison V-1710 V-12 engines, each producing 1,425 hp, the P-38 could reach a top speed of over 660 km/h (410 mph). It was armed with four 12.7 mm Browning machine guns and a Hispano M2 cannon, providing substantial firepower. Though not as maneuverable as the single-engine fighters of its time, it was highly robust and stable. One of its key strengths was its long flight range, making it particularly effective in the Pacific theater and for escorting long-range bombers over European skies. Due to its distinctive shape and formidable combat capabilities, enemy pilots nicknamed the P-38 “the fork-tailed devil.”
